I’ve got three main loves in my life: my family, the beautiful Florida Keys, and my patients. I know I’m a lucky man because I’ve managed to bring all of those loves together! Before I became Dr. True and founded True Plastic Surgery of the Florida Keys, I was an ambitious and eager kid growing up in Ohio. Our family split time between the Midwest and Key Colony Beach, where I quickly fell in love with the laid-back vibe and natural splendor of the Keys.

I learned a lot from my father in those days, including how to fly airplanes, and when the time came, I decided I wanted to become a medical practitioner just like him. I received my M.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, then went on to complete my first surgery internship at the Medical University of South Carolina Charleston. I remained there for four years longer to complete my first surgery residency, and then completed a second at the Tulane University College of Medicine in New Orleans. Since then, I’ve endeavored to create as much of a positive impact as possible on my field. I joined the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and also taught at the Medical University of South Carolina and Florida State University.
No matter where I go, I always find myself drawn inexorably back to the beauty and serenity of the Keys. So, I thought, why not just take my family and move down here to practice? It’s been the best decision I could have made. The great thing about this location too is that I am able to perform work in other areas of South Florida like Miami, where I’ve recently decided to take up a regular practice.

Regardless of where I’m practicing, I always hold myself to the professional principles I’ve long believed in. I put the patient and their experience first. Plastic surgeons need to know what kind of background the patient is coming from, what they want to achieve for themselves, and what problem is standing before them.
